"Robert" Jones got some VERY important mail today!
It's a letter from his new teacher, Mrs. Clackett! After reading it, I sent a letter of my own - a very sweet and not at all confrontational one, telling one of the school administrators that, after swearing my entire life that I'd never curse my children's lives the way my parents cursed mine, I proceeded to call BOTH of my boys by their middle names and asking her to let Mrs. Clackett and the Pre-K teacher know that "Robert" and "Thomas" are, actually, "Jones" and "Freddie," in the same way that "Jessica" has gone her entire life by the name of "Kristin." I made sure to include lots of ":)"s, so she knew I wasn't upset AT ALL, because I'm not! How would Mrs. Clackett know? But I also wanted Jones to feel at home in his classroom from the start, and with "Robert" on a name strip at the top of his desk, he probably wouldn't.
Advocate for your kids and all, amirite?
At any rate, the boys are getting so excited, and today's mail surprise definitely helped to up those stakes even higher!
