Pawleys Island Photo Shoot

Back before Christmas, my sister had a bright idea to hire a photographer during our annual trip to Pawleys Island. We'd split the cost, and that'd be our gift to Mom and Daddy. I loved the idea and vowed to lose 100 pounds before the shoot. THAT didn't exactly happen, but the shoot did - and, in spite of being way bigger in the pictures than I wanted to (and tried to hard NOT to) be, "Mr. Chris" of Christopher John Photography got some great shots.

There was a tropical storm heading up the coast the weekend of the shoot, so we had to be flexible on the day of our plans. That's why the boys' hair is still wet. At the spur of the moment, our appointment got moved up by two hours, so we had to shower fast. As for my hair, I promise I straightened it, but within a nanosecond of stepping outside, nature ran its course, and the curls took over.

What can you do?

In spite of those things, though, these shots - my favorites of the 286 or so he took - are perfect momentos of my favorite place. We've collectively decided to hire Chris every May when we're in town, and maybe by next year's trip I'll have dropped that hundy.

Cross your fingers.
When Mr. Chris suggested a silly picture, we knew
EXACTLY what to do ... (except Jones and Freddie).
I was so nervous about how the boys
would do. I was afraid one of the two
(who shall remain nameless) would
be very difficult, but they were both
perfect subjects, which made me
both thankful and proud!

I love this picture, but I REALLY wish
his hair had had time to dry.

That groin has been the location of some of my all-time
favorite pictures of my boys.

This will be the one I turn into
a giant canvas - with one son covering
half of my front, it gives the necessary
illusion that I only need to lose 50 pounds,
instead of that 100!
