Go, Big BUUUEEEE!

I'm sorry, Freddie.  It's only nap time, and Jones has already won the day.

While Jeremy was at an interview, the boys and I were in the kitchen eating lunch. It was about 11:45, so we were listening to the tail end of Kentucky Sports Radio, while we ate.

When the broadcast ended at noon, the boys were still eating, so I started playing the CD made by the UK Pep Band in 1996, thanks to the tandem of my iPhone and the Bluetooth speaker Jeremy gave me for Valentine's Day (even though its value exceeded our $10 limit by $15! What's the point of having limits, if you're just going to exceed them?!?  That said, I LOVE the speaker ... and, appropriately, it's Kentucky blue, too).

As usual, the boys table-danced to the tunes and laughed as I clapped and clopped across the kitchen floor. Freddie started to get restless a few minutes later. When he did, I put him in the playroom and went back to do the same for Jones.  He sweetly said, "No!" adding, "maaawwww," while making the sign for "more."

"More what," I asked.

"Maaawwww BUUUEEEE," he answered.

His repeated request for "Maaawwww BUUUEEEE" led to 23 minutes of our listening to the UK Fight Song and other Wildcat pep tunes, which was followed by 7 minutes of my crying happy tears of excitement, mingled with the bitter wish that I could share this story with my Mayme who is "plobally" the only person who'd love it even more than I do.

Here's a video of one of the several times he did it. He'd always do it when "My Old Kentucky Home" came on, not knowing, I guess, that it's hard to get more "buuueeeee" than that. My guess is that Mr. Shake It Off prefers his band with a little more pep.

If I can teach these boys to love both Jesus and the Wildcats, I'll consider my work on Earth done (obviously, loving Jesus is WAY more important than loving the Wildcats, so in case any of you yardbirds are wondering if I know that ... OBVIOUSLY).

Thanks to the WatchESPN
app, Jeremy was able to
stream the second half
of his game, while we
waited to get into Rupp.

I guess this is an appropriate time to mention another Wildcat-related story. Jeremy and I spent our Valentine's Day in Lexington, watching the Cats clobber the Cocks. I missed the boys like crazy cakes, but it sure was fun to get away - and to get a win!

I was actually a winner in more ways than one. While driving to Lexington, I saw on Twitter that my beloved Qdoba had buy-one-get-one-free burritos "for a kiss." I never met a burrito I didn't like - much less a free one - so we stopped for lunch on our way to the 2 p.m. UK game. While we were there, we streamed the first half of the Tarheels' noon tip at Pitt before heading on to Rupp.

Because my Valentine is the loveliest of them all, he agreed to eat a second free burrito for dinner, so the Cats won; I ate two burritos, and the boys stayed safe and sound at their Nan and Pop's. It was the kind of weekend that can only be called a "win-win-win."

This was actually my second trip to Kentucky this week. The first one was for a much sadder occasion and involved the boys. Jones, Freddie, Mom, and I rode to Lexington Monday nite and on to Greenup (with Daddy) on Tuesday for the funeral of my Aunt Sue's mom. The boys went to the visitation and, immediately after, headed to Uncle Dave's for a nap during the funeral. When everyone arrived home from the burial, my boys were spoiled by Lori's and Brad's. Austin even said, "Can we get a baby if he acts like Freddie all the time?"

Late in the afternoon, we left to head back to Lexington, getting there just in time for the boys to hit the hay and the rest of us to watch as UK nearly blew what was shaping up to be a blow-out win at LSU (I don't want to talk about it). It was also the nite that - and I swear I'm not making this up - Jones slept worse than he has ever slept in his entire life (I don't want to talk about IT, either).

We came home the next day, and the road weary boys skipped our weekly trip to Bible Study Fellowship, staying with their Daddy, while I went to Greenville for Bible study and to do a "Wicked"-related Professional Development session for the Greenville County School District.

Here are some pictures of the week that was:

This - riding the luggage cart at Daddy's
condo - may very well have been
the highlight of the boys' week.

I cut their heads off, because I was too nervous that one of them
was going to slide off of the seat they were sitting on to take the
time to size it up.

On second through, pulling his suitcase
around Daddy's condo may have been
the highlight of Jones's week.

I am so in love with these age
t-shirts from Old Navy.

Freddie still watches Jones like he's a movie.

When we dropped them off
at Nan and Pop's on Saturday,
the boys got some great Valentines!

Immediately after getting back from
Lexington, we had to go to Ingles
to prep for Snowmageddon!
I took so many pictures of this trip, because I wanted to
be sure I had a shot of the boys in their knit caps.
BECAUSE I LOVE THEM.
