Post-Purri

It's been a busy couple of weeks - both for the boys and for me. The boys have kicked off fall with this summer's last lake trip, some apple picking, and the Canton Labor Day celebration. I've (very gratefully) had lots of opportunities to speak, write, and move the ball down the field on DrBroadway.com. That explains the fact that there will be about 6,000 pictures in this post, all from miscellaneous events over the Indian Summer that was. And then, I'll do separate pic-rich posts for specific events. Maybe.

But first, an anecdote.

The boys and I are all kinda stuffy and snotty this morning. Nobody has a fever - we're all just sluggish from allergies. Or maybe I'M just sluggish from allergies, and I'm projecting that onto the boys as an excuse to be lazy today. Either way, we're taking it VERY easy this morning. None of us are dressed; we're just laying (Jones) and playing (Freddie) in the den, while "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" plays in the background.

Freddie decided to ride his Thomas train around the room. After he'd done this for a few minutes, Jones went over and literally PULLED the child off of it to climb on himself. I heard the kerfuffle before I saw it and sternly said, "Jones, get off that train, and give it back to your brother." He immediately - but sheepishly - backed the train up and climbed off of it, turning his back to me.

When I said, "Come here right now," he collapsed and put his head on the seat of the train. I pulled him over to me to deal with his disobedience, and he offered his defense, as I did: "I fall asleep! I fall asleep!" he said. Though I'll admit I was proud of his inventive excuse, he still got in trouble.

Now, he's got both of his feet in his Jake and the Neverland Pirates sand bucket and is trying to stand up.

That boy ain't right.

So I've mentioned how much Jones loves Sissy's dog;
Freddie does, too.

Life in the big boy bed is still going great!
Since the first nite, he's only gotten out of it one time
without permission. I'm VERY proud of how well
he handled this transition. Now, to potty train ...?!?!

Jones is finally starting to like coloring and drawing;
Freddie is starting to like the taste of washable markers.

I love these pictures of Jeremy and Jones.

This is another favorite.
I think he looks like he's going through
a tractor catalog to pick out the latest
model to add to the fleet.

I love this one so much. It reminds me of riding Hot Wheels
and bicycles at my Mayme's house, while she, Papaw, and all
the other adults sat outside, listening to the bug whacker and
watching us kids.
Jones has started to love playing with this
airplane that I think we got him for his
first Christmas. Though it flies VERY erratically,
Jones makes this AWESOME
airplane noise whenever he plays with it.
I love it.
There are two little Pressleys in this picture.
Can you find them both?
Lunch with Daddy is a new Thursday
afternoon tradition. Here are the boys
walking in to Bogart's, which Freddie points
at and calls "Din Din!" every time we pass it.
I live with 50% of the Village People.
When I was in junior high, I subscribed to Brio,
Focus on the Family's magazine for pre-teen girls.
I was VERY excited to subscribe to Clubhouse, Jr., Focus'
magazine for preschoolers, for Jones and Freddie.
They got their first issue just a few weeks ago.
Freddie is finally starting to get into books,
though he still won't often sit through
a whole story.
I got this t-shirt at the big consignment sale
in August. Though I don't follow baseball,
I think every good Southern boy needs
a classic Braves t-shirt, so I love this one
for filling that void in Jones's wardrobe.
I'd give my eye teeth to find him
something with Chief Knockahoma on it.
Yes, Y'all. Boys ARE different from girls.
Jones and Freddie spent most of an afternoon
jumping off the arm of the Lazyboy into a "pit" of plush.

Happy boys are the best boys.

One morning, after I got Freddie up, I took him in to "cuckle"
Jeremy. I figured he'd immediately fidget and want up, but he didn't.
He laid there and cuckled his daddy for fifteen minutes.
This - Freddie laughing at the moment Jeremy yawned -
was NOT staged but totally illustrates
what Jeremy-CLONES Jones and Freddie are.
No comment necessary.

College Colors Day!
